Research sponsored by The Suga Weathering Technology

The Suga Weathering Technology Foundation sponsors and organizes the following research committees.

1. Weathering Light Research Committee
The Weathering Light Research Committee conducts correlation studies – understanding the optical and mechanical behavior between outdoor exposure tests of materials and accelerated weathering tests.
2. Snowfall Research Committee
The Snowfall Research Committee researches snowfall and snow adherence mechanisms globally. They successfully, artificially produced naturally-occurring snowfall for the first time in the world.
3. Corrosion Research Committee
The Corrosion Research Committee conducts correlation studies – understanding the optical and mechanical behavior between outdoor exposure tests of materials and accelerated corrosion tests. They are currently researching global atmospheric corrosion of metals.

Standardization

As part of our standardization activities the Suga Weathering Technology Foundation actively participates at the highest level in international and Japanese standardization organizations; ISO, JIS, ASTM & AATCC. These standardization activities include research and writing standards for assessing optical and mechanical properties of materials and weathering technology.
